What's in a name?

Hey Folks,

Charles sent this email my way about potential names and I thought I would send it through to you. So...

Potential Names – Drama Club

I did some brainstorming for names of the drama club. Check these out. Give feedback. Just tell me the one’s you like and ignore the one’s you don’t like. This is brainSTORMING. Perhaps what I’ve come up with will prompt names that are better. I sure hope so!

A FEW 'MINUTES' OF YOUR TIME

Minutes of the Meeting of “Acting Out”
August 30, 2007, 6:00pm, PAC
Members present: 16
Leslie Moore introduces present officers:
Herself, President
Alicia Woody, Secretary
Charles Berry, Treasurer
She also informs everyone that Vice-President, Jessica Granado, had surgery that morning.
Everyone introduced themselves and told what they wish to be involved in within the club:
Step—interested in improv; also interested in being Dan’s work-study for the play
David—likes to act, sing, write poetry, and screenplays
Jamie—has 3 years previous experience in acting; likes comedies, serious plays; writes poetry and screenplays
Arnie—works on independent films; writes plays, enjoys improv
Kristen—interested in acting
Corey—wants to help out behind the scenes
Alicia—interested in stage acting
Dominique (Dom)—interested in acting
Josh—interested in acting
Danielle—interested in acting
Daniel (Dan) (“Professor Xavier”)—wants to help teach “Arts”, director of Doubt
Charles (“Sigmund Freud”)—wants experience in acting; enjoys singing
Mike (Leslie’s significant other)—help behind scenes (?)
Tyler—may be working as Dan’s other work-study
William—came because he had nothing better to do; saw flier

The play to be performed this semester is Doubt by John Patrick Shanley.
Dan is directing
It is a “serious” play
It is a parable (not a parade).
There are FOUR CHARACTERS.
There are 3 female parts and one male part.
We may need to do some fund raising for the play (to be determined)

Rehearsal days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday every week. Rehearsal days may extend to include Mondays and Fridays when it is close to the actual performance of the play.

EVERYONE should audition whether or not they actually wish to be in the play. People wishing to audition “just for fun” should say so before they audition.

We need more people to work behind the scenes for the play:
Set builders
Set painters
Hair and make-up (during dress rehearsal week and show nights)
Set movers (during dress rehearsal week and show nights)
More to be announced as needed

Anyone interested in making fliers for Doubt should give Dan a completed flier in the next few days.

The Spring ’08 musical is Godspell by John-Michael Tebelak.
Dallas Jeffers-Pollei is directing
Godspell is about the teachings of Paul (from the Bible)
The auditions will take place on ONE DAY ONLY (date to be announced)

Once again EVERYONE is encouraged to audition.
Bring your own music to the audition (one 16-bar song)
There will be 10-12 people in the show depending on auditions

Since “Acting Out” is a fairly new organization we need to decide what we want to do:
There can be another play
Improv practice
Monologues
If there is enough interest in an activity on the blog we will talk about it next meeting.
It IS NOT Leslie’s job to come up with events, it is everyone’s job. If you have an idea for an activity put it on the blog (whether you would like to participate or think others might like to)

Anything Theatre or Performing Arts related can be put on the blog. Including but not limited to:
Stage acting
Poetry reading
Monologues
Improv.

If you would like to change the name of the club from “Acting Out” to something else propose a name on the blog.
There will be meetings on the SECOND and FOURTH Thursdays of every month.

READ ME!

Okay, here I am again! Once more, and again... Just to let you know, we will have a table on Welcome Back day on the campus. This is a good opportunity to let others know about our club (we're working on it being an organization). Also, our first meeting of the semester will be that same day (thursday, August 30th) at 6:00pm in the PAC. Officers are mandatory at this meeting! That means that me, Jessica, Charles, and Alicia must be there. If anyone is unable to make it please let me know beforehand so I am not looking for you.
Again, August 30th, table for Welcome Back day and first meeting of semester at 6:00pm in the PAC.
One more thing! This Friday, August 24th at 8:30am there will be an aerial photograph done at the campus for the 50th anniversary. All faculty, staff, and students are welcome to be in the photograph. The only requirements are that you are there at 8:15am to be ready by 8:30am, and that you wear a WHITE shirt and blue jeans. BE THERE TO HELP SUPPORT YOUR SCHOOL!

Sincerely,
Leslie N. Moore

L.A. Movie Producer to do Auditions HERE!

Hollywood's next big stars may not come from a major Los Angeles talent agency, but from somewhere in Roswell. Open casting call auditions for the film, "Coyote County Loser," will begin at 9 a.m. on August 16 at the Roswell Community Little Theater at 1101 N. Virginia Ave. Eleven roles, including the two leads are up for grabs. Production, scheduled to start in October, will also occur in Roswell. Producer Jacob Roebuck believes that the secret to success is casting actual small-town people to play the parts of small-town people. As for finding the talent he needs, Roebuck said he doesn't know what he will find, but added he is excited anyway. A drive around Roswell convinced him that the city had the charm that his film needed. His co-producer, upon a recent visit here, has also fallen in love with the city. "[Roswell] fits what we're going for," Roebuck said. "We really hope that it [the film] says something good about love. I think people will feel really good about leaving the theater."Set in the American Southwest, the movie is about a struggling radio station that has a reversal of fortune when a Los Angeles radio D.J. comes to town and begins broadcasting a hit radio program. He initiates an on-air contest to find the "biggest loser," helping that person woo any woman in Coyote County. Progress of the film can be tracked at coyotecountyloser.com. For more information about auditioning, contact Roebuck at (714) 914-0773.

Club opportunity?

I just received this e-mail and thought I would send it your way. As you know, I am not in town, but if you wanted to do something, let me know and I will help you set it all up.

ENMU-Roswell has purchased an advertising/sponsorship package at the upcoming UFO Festival and one of our benefits is a booth at the Vending Hall at the Civic Center from Thursday, July 5-Sunday, July 8. This would be a good opportunity for any student clubs who want to sell something as a fund raiser.

The booths must be manned from noon to 6pm on July 5 and then from 9:00am through AT LEAST 6:00pm July 6-7 and from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sunday, July 8.

Vending hall hours: Open at 9:00 am and Close at 6:00 pm earliest and up until 11:00 if there is traffic

Sunday: take down at 5:00 pm; Close at 6:00 pm

If anyone is interested in doing this, contact Donna Oracion via e-mail or at ext. 403.

Hello! Let's see if we can get some ideas rolling around in here. !!! I'm brain dead right now, but don't be afraid to post something if you're thinking of it. Any idea is better than no idea at all.
